Reviews and Opinions
Last Updated

You might have noticed that there multiple user scores in this website.

In particular, users can submit both "opinions" and "reviews".

But whats the difference?

Opinions

Opinions allow users to freely express their opinions about games, developers and everything in-between. They are more free-form than reviews, un-moderated and are pure text (cannot use markdown or any styling). As long as they obey the general website rules, they can have any kind of content, from jokes to rants to anything in-between

Reviews

Reviews allow users to provide useful criticism towards a game. Unlike opinions, reviews are meant to be serious business™. This means they enjoy higher visibility and additional features, such as being able to use markdown to style their text.

However, they are moderated and must follow some additional rules:

  • Must have at least 3000 characters or 500 words
  • Must be serious in tone (humor in the review is fine, as long as the review itself isn't the joke)
  • Cannot have an aggressive tone
  • Must provide detailed, constructive criticism
  • Using reviews to make an statement, such as review bombing or making accusations against the developers or publishers, is forbidden.

Reviews that do not meet these criteria will be erased and the author will be punished accordingly (usually with a suspension).

Reasoning

At this point, you might be pondering why we have 2 distinct types of game feedback systems. The reason we decided to split them was to both allow users to freely express themselves while also providing well constructed criticism for those who care about it.

Thus, by splitting game feedback into 2 very different categories, we expect to cater to 2 different demographics without compromising either.
