Tags are used to categorize objects in the database or mark them with relevant information. The tags themselves are divided into 6 categories:
- Games: generic tags added to games
- Genres: describes the genre of a game. Avoid adding new genre tags since the list of game genres is relatively short, and we don't use very specific genre tagging.
- Hardware: generic tags added to hardware objects.
- Images: generic tags added to game images.
- News: generic tags added to News objects.
- Themes: describes the themes of a game, such as "World War 2" or "Sci-fi".
The Genres and Themes tags are a bit special because they are limited to a single topic, while the others are mostly generic. The Genres tag, in particular, has a special rule: no compound tags. For example, if there are "RPG" and "Action" tags and you want to say that a particular game's genre is "Action-RPG", you must add both "Action" and "RPG" tags instead of creating an "Action RPG" one. Other tags are standalone and can be as specific as required.
